Cristatus Prime
What matters lies beyond the visible.
Cristatus Prime is a defence technology company, founded in India in 2026.
Read the founding noticeThe visible is a sliver of the field.
Everything the eye can see is less than a fiftieth of this scale. Security is sensed and decided across all of it.
Illustration. Wavelength is drawn on a compressed scale; outside the visible band, light is drawn without colour because the eye sees none.
The electromagnetic spectrum on a logarithmic wavelength scale: Gamma rays, < 0.01 nm; X-rays, 0.01 to 10 nm; Ultraviolet, 10 to 380 nm; Visible, 380 to 750 nm; Infrared, 700 nm to 1 mm; Microwave, 1 mm to 1 m; Radio, > 1 m.

Gamma rays < 0.01 nm
In the defence sector
Used to inspect welds and critical parts without cutting them open, and to detect radioactive material at borders and ports.
X-rays 0.01 to 10 nm
In the defence sector
Used to screen cargo, vehicles and baggage, and to reveal hidden flaws inside components and structures.
Ultraviolet 10 to 380 nm
In the defence sector
Used by warning sensors that detect the ultraviolet glow of rocket motors, and in detecting chemical and biological agents.
Visible 380 to 750 nm
In the defence sector
The band of the human eye, cameras and optical sights; still the basis of most observation.
Infrared 700 nm to 1 mm
In the defence sector
Thermal imaging lets crews see by heat at night and through smoke; infrared sensors also detect and track hot engines.
Microwave 1 mm to 1 m
In the defence sector
The band of most radar and satellite communications, and of satellite navigation signals such as GPS and NavIC.
Radio > 1 m
In the defence sector
Carries long-range voice and data communications, and over-the-horizon radar that reflects off the ionosphere.
General uses across the defence sector. Not a description of Cristatus Prime's work.
